I'm replacing my chain, no doubt about it, with everything im putting under the hood and all the money ive spent i dont want a 300 thousand kilometer spent timing chain ruining anything for me..

Question is, will replacing it remove the start up metal sound at all? If so how long does it stay nice and quiet from experience? 20 - 50 thousand k's or a lot less or more?

just curious
Thanks.

If you are going to be super worried..

Buy yourself a cheap inport CG13DE, put the gear in that with a new timing chain and drop it in.

Metal sound? Like the timing chain rubbing on the metal backing of the tensioners which have long since worn away?
Or just rattly chain noise?

At 140,000km mine makes a little noise when cold (nothing worrying) which goes away once warm.
