allined the timing all up thismorning and made sure the cams were all alined good and turned the key and i heard noises!!!!

NOISES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nice noises... the sound of air, petrol and a spark igniting it for some nice combustion...

until it conked out and i took off the rocker cover and noticed that the cam shafts were not alined any more (moved the harmonic balancer to the 2nd dot) and were way off....

wtf is going on?

it fired for about 3 seconds and then turned off... the most progress my mechanic and i could get in 3 weeks..

why would the cam shafts not be in the same position that they were in when i alined it properly?

the chain cannot jump or slip as it is a chain and not a rubber belt...

The only way the cam can mumbo out of sync with the crankshaft is if the crankshaft-cog key has sheared or is missing (or the chain is hopping teeth on the cogs. Is the tensioner doing its stuff? You would hear the chain jumping teeth). If it is way out there is a chance you may have bounced the valves on the pistons and bent them. Can you do a compression test to find out? Best of luck :)
