my brother had a silvia s12 and had similar prob .. it was the plugs don't ask why as thought they was fine.. just make sure its sparking and make sure theres fuel going in if these things are ok it requires deeper investigation.

No spark from the coil lead ,but there's 12volts at the block connector and we tryed a fully working coil. . .gona try a few more things today as you said it may require deeper investigation(Y)

Working on this today, has me stumped. . .changed coil, leads, dizzy, checked all wiring piping etc cant understand it lads.
We have spark, fuel but one thing was strange there was smoke coming from the air intake on the airbox?:( I don't ####ing know

baz, that sounds like timing, that belt is correct is,nt it ? :)

deffinately sounds like timimg, however my mates escort did this but there was a couple of burned inlet valves.

I was thinking that, the two of us had a chat about it ,it the only other thing it could be. Shame. I'll let him know guys,as he replaced the headgasket himself and obviously did'nt set the timing correctly.

Thanks

Do a compression test with dist disconnected... see what you get. Also what head gasket did he use?

Thats right. . .head gasket is over 100euro from nissan so some people are bound to go for the cheaper option. Personally I would'nt trust it

Agreed, in theory you could have detonation occuring between your surfaces...not cool imo.

Not to mention you would have reduced compression.

Sign above my mechanic's front counter:

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of a low price.

Like talking to the wall with some people man

Was up at this today had a look at the timing. . .180degrees out at the crank:doh:
