Strange noise.

hi

noticed a knocking noise comng from the front right. it happens when driving along the CV joints are fine so cant be that. any ideas please? it does it when i rock the wheel forwards and backwards (in and out)

How would i check that? take wheel off and rock it back and too?

it COULD be you CV joint, mine looked fine, but made the knocking noise for about 2 years, until i decided to get it changed and it stoped

it could be your wheel bearing as my friends clio was making a simular noise and it broke when the wheel is on the floor with steering lock is on does the wheel move in and out from the arch and left to right iof it does its your wheel bearing

ive had a look at the car and the odd thing i can see is that there is a boot missing from the gearbox end of the driveshaft. :S the other side has one. Do you think this could be the cause?
