Shark Fin Aerial

Hi Guys,
Im new to the forum had my 160SR since March this year. I'm loving the Micra as it alot quicker than my 1 litre Corsa C. Im looking for a bit of help on Shark Fin Aerials if anyone has done it yet.

Thanks

Dom

Hi Dom
I looked into changing my standard aerial for a sharkfin last year...saw one in a sale bucket at Halfords...however the only "working" one (not purely aesthetic) i could find you would have to remove the whole aerial mount from the roof...cut a hole in the metal and run through the wires to the radio unit...just seemed like too much hard work to me LOL

There may be easier ones/ways of changing it but at the time i couldn't do with the hastle...
I actually ended up removing my standard screw in aerial and replacing it with a chromed beesting one...cost 83p +vat from the cheap cash and carry down the road (yes that's just £1!!!) and it looks ace and still works fine ^_^
Good luck, let us know how you get on...I'd still be interested in changing mine for a shark fin as i've never seen one on any micra before...but it has to be an easier straight swap for me to do it...I'm not particularly technical :p

The shark fin Ariels do not suit the position of the k12 Ariel i had one fitted for about a month before i removed it an changed to a meeting i will try and find a pic tomorrow so you can judge for yourselves

That would be interesting to see Dragonmaster ;)
I guess most cars that have them (beemers) have their aerials at the rear, not the front of the roof ^_^

No luck finding the pic today the Ariel being at the front was the problem though if you wanted to go through all the work of relocating it to the rear then it would probably suit better

I think relocating your aerial would be a pain in the backside LOL

I'll get a pic of the little aerial i have now...might help you decide about what you want to try?......could try and do a mock up with a shark fin?...possibly?

Okay...I did a mock up...and it looks pretty rubbish LOL....At the back it ruins the line of the spoiler (if you have one) and at the front it looks too chunky...it may work if you have it the same colour as your paintwork but a black sharkfin on my white K12 definitly doesn't work :p

Here's my mums for reference (standard)

Good luck making your decision...I think i'll be sticking with the one i've got now ;)

ETA: the mock ups...(just done one's to match my white paint)...still not sure it really works though...

Thanks for all of your responses, i should check this a bit more often!
I have decided to keep the standard aerial and just look into doing different things to make my car stand out.

Jen i see what you mean by it ruins it with the spoiler, mine does have that amazing spoiler.
