realy rough engine

hi ive just fitted a new engine in my k10 and i just cant seem to get it running right its over fueling and i think the timings out also when driving it sounds like its running on 3 cyliders any tips would be greatly appreciated

was it a complete engine that you fitted ?

i forgot to add that the engine is not stantard

it was and it was running fine when i took it out of the other car

then its a process of elimination, you,ve fitted a working engine and not removed/changed the carb or dizzy or plugleads ?

has new plugs and leads only a mouth old had carb apart cleaned all the jets out helped a little and a new dizzy cap and rotar arm because the old 1s where not in good shape

have you tried pulling each pluglead off while its running to check all 4 cylinders are firing ok ?

i have tried that and all 4 work it sound ok when tikking but sounds like only 3 are working when ime driving it

if you hav,nt tried another carb yet, it sounds to me like its grossly overfueling and 8 stroking when you open the throttle under load ?

sort of like driving round with the choke on, can you try a different carb ?
