I'm planning to get this today, however. Just to make sure, is this compatible with cars pre-2001? - I know it says 2001+ for Petrol and 2004 for Diesel, but I just want to make sure!

Would this for example.. work on our Micras? (Pre-facelift?)

i think the pre 2000 k11,s have the 14pin consult plug, and that one is for the eobd 16 pin jobbie

as far as i am aware only cars after 2004 came with OBD2 in the uk as before that it was only available in the US.

OBD or on board diognostics is one of the worst things to happen to motoring in the past 100 years. every little fault may be able to be found, but it will cost you £60+ to find out that a 2p fuse has gone or its "just a bug mate"

Like traction control, ABS, power steering and all the other "driving aids" it's just another way of manufacturers and garages making money off you when it goes wrong.

works on motronic ecus only, so k11 micras x-reg and on. wont work on a k12 becuase i think they use CAN bus

and wont work on pre-facelift either
