i have got a sub and amp and all the rca's but it has been brought to my attention that i'll need a power pack which are around £25.
i was under the impression u could wire straight to the battery.

any ideas?

hmm. You need a wiring kit not a "power pack" The wiring kit is around £20 and it contains all the necessary leads and stuff i.e. all the thick wires for earth and live. Some contain RCA's as well so you didnt really need em. RCA's go from HU to amp, Live from amp to battery, earth from amp to chassis, some cases you have an REM lead from HU to amp but only very thin. Then speaker wire from amp to speakers and/or sub.

the only thing i could think you mean by power pack would be a capacitor maybe? these go before the amp and store power to give out on big drops made by the sub, from what iv heard these really arnt worth having

Yea, agreed, unless your running major bass, don't bother with one, as they're a waste of money.

Not even worth it when running big power - they just put strain on the battery.

Invest the £100 odd in a bigger battery, or 2nd battery for the boot.

I'm running over 1.4kwrms and dont need one! Nuff said

Also upgrade the big 3 (search on www.talkaudio.co.uk/vbb) to find out what I'm talking about!
