Perfect fast road micra base?

Hey all, long time no speak.

My first micra is about to be scrapped due to a smashed windscreen and water damage inside, so I'm going to spend a decent amount of time looking for this next one.

What would be the ideal base to look for? My current thought was a 1 litre LX model with no sunroof (lightest model, and can swap a cg13de in and mate it to the cg10de gearbox for better ratios). I'm thinking prefacelift due to easier remapping due to no NATS.

Anything else I should keep in mind when searching?

its only the very early pre-facelifts that dont have nats joe (which cant be mapped either) , and better ratio,s in what way ?

Ahh okay thanks for the info Frank, I was getting my nats knowledge mixed up. I thought that the 1 litre gearbox had different gear ratios, and coupled to a cg13de would have better acceleration?

it depends what you are after really mate, the preface 1.0 has a slightly lower diff than the 1.3,s (4.05 compared to 3.9) but the 1.3,s and facelift 1.0 have a taller 4th and 5th
and the f/l 1.0 had a much lower diff (4.65 iirc)

As ever you're an invaluable source of info, thanks a lot! Not very knowledgeable on internals, but would 1 litre pistons raise the compression? Coupled with a nismo gasket? Fancying a n/a screamer

aye, 1.0 pistons raise it to about 11.5 iirc joe, headskims and thinner gaskets slacken the lower chain eh

Ah brilliant, at the minure a cg13de with cg10de pistons, cg10de crank pulley, 256 cams, ga16de airbox wait CAI pipe from front bumper, nistune remap, new manifold, straight through 2" exhaust, lightweight fly wheel, exedy clutch is the plan.

any other suggestions? Would a ga16 TB and injectors be worth doing? Or could even source ga15 parts, just not sure its worth the hassle..
