Not using car, still need insurance?

I don't want to get rid of my car, but wont be using it on the road for a while, i have been reading somewhere that even though the car will be parked up not being used it still needs to be insured? Is this true? If anyone could shed any light on this would be great!

Correct, unless its off the road and on private land such as a driveway or garage ect.

Just SORN it, and shove it in your garage or a mates garage :L

any registered vehicle must either be:

• Declared SORN -kept off public roads & parking, can prob get some road tax refunded back if there's enough remaining, no insurance necessary (although won't be covered if the worst happens).
• Taxed & insured at all times on public roads

No, it still needs insurance if in a garage, drive way etc. You have to SORN it to not need insurance.
