Nissan Micra 2014 dig-s

Got this Micra 4 weeks ago, there was squeaking noise from under the hood,
RAC breakdown person came and gave me a report of suspecting, dig-s drive belt is not turning on and magnetic clutch has been ceased.. I have no clue about this…the squeaking noise stopped, and car has been returned to the garage, from where we brought the car from.. the garage is looking forward to change the super charger..
The question I want to ask is, should it be noticeable drop of power from engine, because the drive looked fine to me apart from the squeaking noise which stopped eventually.
2nd question is, should the super charger belt always be running and rotating, when you check under the hood/bonnet, when the engine is running.
This is really confusing for me and I do not want to change the super charger if nothing is wrong with it.
Thanks

The supercharger will only turn on when demanded by the engine.

Blipping the throttle from idle should engage it and you should be able to hear the faint-ish supercharger whine. If you let it sit idling the charger will turn off, or if you hold the throttle for a high idle for too long, again the charger will turn off.

There are 2 belts, the main serpentine belt which turns the supercharger clutched pully, then a pully from the clutched pully to the supercharger.

And yes, driving without the super charger running will be a significant loss in power - it will feel utterly gutless.

Its possible that that one or both belt tensioners are on the way out, a competent garage should be able to tell.
