Hi all,

Basically I'm new, I'll be honest, I always used to hate on micra's, but now I love them, friends think I'm nuts, but couldn't really care less. I've been knocking about the forums just browsing threads and looking into things just out of curiosity and awe of some of the cars I've seen. Anyway I'm 17 soon to be 18 and looking to buy my first car, I know next to nothing about cars I'm more of a bike guy. There's a K11 for sale under a mile away it's a really smart turquoise blue, 5 door, 1l, pre-facelift, 88k on the clock, but here's my dilemma it has no MOT, my question to you guys is, when I go to view it what are the main things to look for i.e known problems or just things I should know, any help will be greatly appreciated and I hope to join you guys with my own little beauty.

Rust! Sills, rear axle, front cross member, arches... Ok so basically all the car haha!
Asking when last service was is also a good shout.
Don't be afraid to check the oil prod and poke everywhere at the end of the day your checking it for your own safety.

Thanks a lot mate, I know it's cheap but don't wanna waste money if it's just gonna fail an mot :)

The engines and mechanicals are pretty bombproof its just the rust haha.

Check the front corss member just lay under the front bumper and look up, if theres a gaping great hole chances are itll fail and need a new one :)
 
Absolutely gutted guys, the colour I wanted and it was a 3 door not a 5 door they got it mot'd and I've just called up to view it tonight and it's sold pending collection bummer :(

The hunt for my beauty carries on ;)

Keep looking! You'll find the one soon enough, there's plenty of 'em out there.
In terms of what to look for, it's worth mentioning rust again! One of my sills is awful.
Especially the three door sunroof model, seems to be affected the most.

Don't think I'll be able to afford one guys :( thought it would be a cheap car to A) Insure B) Buy C) Run around

I've just done a few quotes on a 1l 5 door 96, they're coming out at £2k up to £6k, I really thought the insurance would be cheap as chips.

:( I haven't passed my test but made out on the quote I had. Gutted tbh guys...
 
Scazzney, hope your ok mate!!! Insurance is a little high, how old are ya? Also out of curiosity what sergery did you have.. Hope it went ok..... Theres loads lf insurances keep searching for a cheap......

I'm due in on Sunday, I've had lung surgery, basically keep getting little collapses of the lung so they're removing loads of cysts etc they've done my right just due in for my left, I'm 17 but soon to have 2 years ncb from my 50 and 125 but no insurer seems to do them, I heard Churchill did but ill have to look into it
 
Hey sorry to hear that mate but all the best and goodluck with surgery etc..... And being young some insrances take advantages with prices but theres always some kinda reasons for it.. Keep looking and you will find a suitable cheap insjrance...

fools game,,,,,,,,,,even if i handed you my car for free the hinsurance take a dump on all us

about the lungs,,,no one gonna escape this one ,have you seen the poison being sprayed from above ,,big plumes of toxic microscopic dust,,,so small it can get into the blood stream vessels of life,,,,nope it aint bin laden killing 100,000's its the missing peodophiles dossier MP's

Wtf haha nah mate I just grew up with cysts on my lungs that keep popping :') and it'll be ok I'll just take the car ;);) pick it up on Saturday?;)
