New k10 owner

Hi all,Purchased my first k10 yesterday.Always liked them & passed my driving test in one back in 1990!
It's a 1992 1.2 gsx auto with just 25k on the clock & in mint condition!
In the last year i've owned a mk3 Supra 3.0,a Porsche 924 & a Volvo 480 coupe.So driving the micra home was a bit of a shock! (pulling out at junctions)but i had a smile on my face the 50 miles home.Although it's a 92 model you can tell it's from an older era.Very 80's! :)
First upgrade will be some slightly wider wheels. Will have to search the forum to see what will fit. :)

Thanks Shane:)

Thanks h701.I often drive up to lovely Louth so will keep an eye out for you!
Shane,it runs lovely no rattles, feels like it's about 4 years old.I just wish i had a garage to keep it in.
Going to give it an oil & filter change this week & i noticed the rear box is very rusty so will replace that.
Half wish it had been a manual but being tall with big feet it's nice to have that bit more room an auto gives me :)

Good stuff. You cant miss mine :D
I have a box thats about a year used for a couple of months. I did an engine conversion so it was no use. Feel free to pick it up when your about.
Also if you do consider manual conversion. Ive everything bar the pedals

More than welcome
I did once or twice. On various events.
I'll have to agree its noisy but only on full chat. Otherwise its ok for sneaking home when I'm late
Its closed now. Bought out by gbm. Using it as a dumping ground... what a waste :(

Yep,early 90's :)
Would like to get some alloys on it but happy to keep it 13's.I haven't checked out what will fit yet though.Wobble bolts are totally new to me! lol.
Because i's so original i'll probably keep it that way till(for a bit anyway)

I said the same it was a perfect example of a k10 but I wanted to make it mine in the end (after using it to embarrass the wanna be local racers)
A set of 13" minilites/superlites are a popular choice. Or to keep close to original have your steels banded. Wider tire original (ish) look.

I was just looking at banded wheels,i like that look. For now though i think i'll just source a set of k11 alloys.
Superlites always look great don't they.Takes me back to my Escort mk1 & Avenger days :)

Points!! I wonder if i've still got my feeler gauges :)
Seen some bigger steels on ebay. Will they fit on mine without any modifications? Bit worried about rubbing wings etc.
They're item number 321129248736

Says they are off a micra so I cant see any modification being needed.
You'll be fairly safe from any rubbing with those. Ive got 195's on mine and they only just touch
Can I ask why you're going up to 14?

Thanks for that.Well i just came across them & thought they'd help roadholding?
Have you got a link to photo's of your car.Would love to see it.

Haha I'm sure you wouldn't the stickers ruin mine but there's the link to my blog

The 14inch rim and high profile tire will slow you acceleration down a fair bit.
Road holding wise you'll want a wider tire giving you that larger contact patch with the road. And wider track/wheelbase. Then we go onto lowering, spacers etc
Those classic superlites give you the best of both with their next to no offset and wide tire your onto a winner. Only downside is they stick out a bit meaning arch work is required

thanks for that info on the wheels.Never realised it would affect the acceleration.Last thing i need! lol.
Going to have a look at your stickered up beast now!

Enjoy yourself as I do stickering up... except I've gone off the idea a few week ago and all needs yanking off. Having the back half done in a carbon and matt black vinyl design. Should look less kiddyish

Being an oldie i quite like the stickered up look...reminds me of the old lombard rally cars :)
But sometimes less is more..especially for surprising people ;)

Couldn't agree more. Though people think the stickers are just for show.
I rally with the old boys in escorts chevettes and mantas so I think that was my inspiration

IphWhy not watch the modern day old rallies? Unfortunately my local event has been cancelled this year. But there's many more to come. Its always good to watch the mk2s out pace the modern equivalents

Maybe the old school rally could be your inspiration for your k10 :D

I shall have a look now....
There's the dukeries forest rally on june 8th
There's the mermaid classic run on august 4th where cars of all natures from 30 years ago and older come out for a leisurely drive
