My k11 sounds rough....

i have a 1 litre 1996 K11 micra.

up till yesterday it was as quiet as a mouse - now it sounds like a 3 litre diesel engine on tickover!

it seems to drive ok with no loss of power but the noise is horrendous coming from the engine.

the oil etc is fine.

any clues??

Timing chain rattle maybe? I guess the adjuster for the chain could have broken. Maybe make a short video of it and post in on you tube so people can hear it and give a better answer.

if it sounds like a rattle,it could be the chain...still driveable,but very noisy....if you do diagnose it being a chain,i have brand new timing kits in stock,heaps cheaper than nissan or anyone else...
