My car keeps burping

My Micra is misfiring.

- I've had a look at the condition of the spark plugs (1 year old) and they're fine.
- When I pull the HT leads off each spark plug in turn, the engine seems to behave the same way.
- My HT leads and dizzy cap are fairly new - I replaced both last December.
- The rotor arm is 2.5 years old - could it be that?
- I recently had a problem with the choke failing to open properly (solved by lubricating the choke linkages).
- I still have a problem with the choke stick open too long but that disappears after 5 minutes usage and the misfire is still present.
- I had a loose HT lead last year so possibly could have coked up a cylinder

Things I haven't checked (that I can think of):-
- coil
- dizzy itself
- rotor arm

All suggestions for what to check next appreciated!

Cheers,

Daniel

You normally change the rotor arm when you change the dizzy cap as its only a couple of quid more. If I was you Id replace that as its the cheapest and easiest option atm.

Okay, new rotor arm fitted but unfortunately it hasn't solved th problem.

I've got access to a compression tester, would that be next on my list of things to do?
