MOT Failure: Rear brake

Just had car gone through an MOT and it failed on the rear nearside brake being inoperative or ineffective, rear nearside handbrake being inoperative or ineffective and hence the handbrake not being effective.

I've got a set of shoes and wheel cylinders here, so will swap them out myself.

Is it fairly straightforward and is there anything I should be aware of? (Have done this on numerous other cars, classic mini, toyota yaris, honda integra, etc.)

Anything else it could be? I imagine the drums wouldn't need replacing unless something really bad has happened? (the car still drives fine and handbrake holds on incline).

Cheers

I've never had to do it myself but if you managed to do it on a classic mini you should have no problems on the micra

a few members have cursed the re-fitting of the shoes/springs, but i find that with the hub removed (big tight nut) then they,re a doddle :)
