MICRA 2000 REG 1.0 S, HESITATION AND POOR IDLE

Hi, 1st time ive posted on here so hopefully someone will know what might be wrong with my car.

had the micra now for about 6 months, its been generally quite a good little car, but recently its started to poor idle (fast idle when car stops at a junction takes its time to slow down to idle speed but does eventually) also car tends to have hesitation when its first started, normally it goes away if you rev the balls off the engine (which i dont like doing).

ive changed the plugs, cleaned the throttle body and sprayed some carb clean through it but its helped a little but still suffers with the problems as listed above.

hope someone can help

Hi it is very hard to diagnose without seeing the fault. There is a few things this could be but the most likely cause is the MAFS (Mass Air Flow Sensor) But it should be checked out first as these can be really quite expensive. If your car has a distributor the MAFS is only available as part of the whole throttle body. If it has seperate coils per cylinder you can source the MAFS seperately.
It could also be a faulty Lambda Sensor, or even a fuel pressure problem.
If it is at all possible, you would benifit from getting your car hooked up to a Diagnostic Scanner and reading the Engine parameters then you should see a Volume/Voltage drop off or fluctuate when the fault occurs. Hope this has helped.

its more likely to be maf, if it is the distributor version, they suffer from the contacts breaking behind the square plate on the throttle body, you can cut the black sealer away, and re-solder the plug connector to the sensor, the stick plat back on with sealer/'mastik'. deffo worth connecting to diag tool first!
