K12 handbreak loose

Appologies if this is not in the right area. I've also done a search but got nothing.
My problem is the handbreak. It's suddenly realy easy to pull on and does not hold the car well on any slight graidient. Ive adjusted the interior handbreak to maximum and also put new shoes on. The old ones didn't look too bad to be honest. Is the cable stretched and if so is it an easy diy fix and what do i need. Also adjusted the break shoes when i changed them. Could i 'pack' out the interior handbreak adjuster with shims to take up more slack? Thanks Ian

On mine I found the cable at handbrake was ripped mine would clunk.
Shims are not a safe solution.
If cables are bad replace..
First tho try roll backs
It took a while for me to solve mine working between adjusters and the mechanism adjustment.
Mine was lifting too high and didn't feel to be holding.
You can try this drive car back n lift handbrake to take slack out of the drum adjusters
I think rolling back on slight incline also worked for me.
This worked but took a couple turns.
