K11 N-CVT light on. Help !

Have just had the auto box on my 2000 changed for one I bought from the breakers.
Old one was very noisy and on the way out.
New one is nice and quiet but every now and then the NCVT warning light comes on.
Transmission fluid was replaced.
The mechanic who fitted it says the car just needs a bit of driving !

We also sometimes struggle to get the car into gear
and it sometimes grates when engaging D or R.
Had the same problem with the old box.

Any advice please ?

Tried the second thread and it works perfectly. Thanks Frank.
Gone through the diagnostics a few times - same result.
The light blinks repeatedly " Battery supply fault or memory back-up fault"
Any idea how these are rectified ?

Hi again Frank.

Tried that all - new brushes etc.
Thing is there is no difference in performance at all. The car drives perfectly and the light comes on only after
about 2 minutes.
Thinking of memory back up fault. How do I get this checked ?

Unfortunately its from underneath the car...checked the haynes and it just says to jack the car up, loosen the two adjuster nuts securing the inner cable to the control rod, then set the car into P (from inside car) then check underneath to make sure the gearbox is in the P location and gearbox is locked. Finally tighten up adjustment nuts and road test car...making sure you can only start it in N or P.

That may or may not help :)
