Ive seen Chie is selling a Janspeed Manifold.

I know apart from making the car LOUDER lol how much BHP do you gain from JUST added the manifold with standard cat and standard piping through to a Remus Backbox.

Also is the manifold EASY to fit lol

Cheers

well no one actually knows. I imagine somewhere between 5 and 7. I had one on the super s. It made it a bit quicker, felt a lot faster though.

yeah they are easy to fit.

Suppose it all dependas if you have the 1L or 1.3. From the site and if you have a 1.3 wuith a full system and decat your looking at a 20-25bhp gain, so I imagine with just the manifold it would be aroudn 10-15 increase with a 1.3

Realy should get 1.3 andy, if you are interested in power gains efforts are wasted on 1L, a 1.3 block can be bought for peanuts but the GB is bit more but worth it in the end, James's went from 1L to 1.3 and he still seems excited

i also believe that u will only see 6-10bhp gain on the 1 litre andy but still the best mod u can do for the money other than fitting the 1.3. good luck with this mate

:D

i want a 1.3 but insurance would not like it prob. dunno why. Ill check some quotes out :)

im in same dilemer andy, im sure insurance would prefer a simple 1.3 rather than a 1.3 engine conversion

is that 6-10 bhp an estimate k11ss or do you no for sure as i have always wondered

well i got a quote of £1185 or summot from same insurance online for Goldstars 1.3 Super S lol so i might pay the extra £70 insurance wise if i bought a Super S :)

well all engines are going to respond differently, but the effect would be positive.

Both engines look the same if you know what I mean ;)

I read somewhere on the site you could re-register your car with the DVLA as a 1.3 Micra then just insuring the car, as a standard 1.3 micra (rather then a engine-conversion 1.3)

how n0rty is that??

why dont you by a 1.3 and insure it as a 1.0....just equally stupid

your going to put a 1.3 in a 1.0 car and lie on your insurance??

thats what thought it said...if it didnt meen that..what arent you worried about?

it was more of an 'out of intrest' question. I wondered how legal doing the following was:

Getting a standard 1.0 litre micra.
Putting in a 1.3/1.4 micra engine.
Re-registering the car as a 1.3/1.4 micra with the DVLA.
Then when putting your registration into an insurance quote it will come up as a standard 1.3/1.4 micra.
Insuring it like that.

im guessing thats also about as legal as robbing a bank.

yeah, cos its a 1.0l with a new engine. Im sure to get it regisitered fully as a 1.3/4 it has to go through loads of tests and the car ends up as a Q plate.

I thought that's how it would be done anyway. Once you re-register it with the DVLA as a 1.3 then when you put your license plate in to insure it will come up as a 1.3

But if you're gonna put a 1.3 in and not declare. What's the point in paying for insurance? You're driving without any.

doign an engine swap to a 1.3 as far as the dvla are concerned you are only changeing one of the majour components.. don't know if its still the same but two years ago you had to change 3 majour components for it to need SVA test and then be put on Q plates.. my experience was that after an engine swap they just put the new engine number on the register and changed it to the larger engine capacity. that was when we out a 1.6Zetec in my mates escort. mabey things have changed since then though?

dont know where that came from as my post did not mention with-holding info from DVLA...

i'm gonna do this as my friend has already done this in his polo...

1.0l> 1.3l polo... all he has done is send in the documentation for the work carried out then waited for a new log book with updated details...

and i think it is 3major changes before an inspection is required...

PS: everyones gone a bit off topic i think!!!

There is nothing that im aware of that says x changed and you need to have anything done. If it passes mot and retains the same chassis number, and there for identity its road worthy - end of! Some insurance companies like engineers reports others dont. As for updating details, its simple, you just fill in form and send off. Nothing more to it.

Ed

yeh, thats what i thought aswell, 3 majour changes, or atleast it was 2 years ago.. you don't even have to fill the forms in, we just phoned them upa nd they did it all over the phone..

Are your mods going to be declared?

Have they all been in the past?
