Ignition timing procedure

My 'Y' plate 1.0 feels as though it is running retarded, or maybe a bit lean. But since the Lambda sensor seems to be working normally and it goes closed loop soon after starting, I'm looking at the timing first.

My questions are what do I do to alter it, (assuming I can find my timing light!) and will any changes show in the degrees advance figure I get via OBD2, or will they be hidden because the changes are invisible to the ECU?

MTIA for clues, as the Haynes BOL I bought on Ebay has not arrived yet.

Roops

Is yours the distributor model or coilpack model?

Timing is controlled by the ecu and will need a mapper of some description to look it up

Look into your fuelling as its something you can do without seeking a huge bill
