im trying to find the coil to fit in my tachometer, but i cant seem to find it :(.
i know its arond abouts where the dizzy is but i cant find that either.
can someone please help? if its near the battery, wiper fluid e.t.c

also if so, can someone post a piccy of possible.
just so you know its a 93 k10, incase that matters

Ok it on the left hand side of the engine bay near the battery. Find your spark plugs (front of engine) follow them (4 wires) to your dizzy. The centre wire in the dizzy goes to your coil. It's a round object with a centre wire to dizzy and 2 terminals. It has + and - written on it.

ok thanks olly, ive found it.
another thing, where my coil is covered in crap, i cant see which one is + and which is -
which one is closest to the cable to the dizzy?
there is one cable screwed in already

Urm on mine I had 2 wires going to the negative and one going to the positive. but I have an alarm fitted so mine may be different.
Scrape the crap off lols.

Yeah clean it. Your coil could be mounted upside down or something and end up putting it to the wrong one!

well theres 3 wires
1 going to dizzy, one plugged in opposite dizzy and another with 2 red wires running out of it
my guess is the one without red wires coming out is -

my part number is 22433 56e11
piccys on google there are!

please let someone who knows what theyre doing before you cause a fire.....

also a 1993 k10?????

Ryan.

its these ones

on one input, there is 3 wires going into it:
-one red
-one half red and half white
-another color (will check tomorrow)

on the other is only 2 inputs:
-one is green
-other yet again i cant remember

the one with green and other color is opposite the cables going to dizzy.

if i insert the wire into the wrong one, what is the worst thing that would happen?

ok i will post a picture up tomorrow
basically those wires i mentioned run into sockets which can clip on and off.
theres also a bacl wire bolted to the screws, although i think this may just be o earth something

Never seen a k10 with an electronic coil like that.

Sure you havnt got a k11?

Ryan.

i think you just tap the tacko signal wire into the wire that goes from the coil to the dizzy (and earth the guage)

ok i found the cable colors

3 wire socket:
-red
-black
-white & white

2 wire socket:
-green
-white & red

then theres the cable which goes to the dizzy

isnt it risky to put the tach signal into the cables that go to the dizzy, and being safer to put the cable to minus side of coil?
im pretty sure its the 2 wire socket, i can give it a try but whats the worst that can happen, then i will assess if its worth the risk :p

ok i will have a look tonight and see what i can do
thanks :)

oh and seeing as there are so many questions on this, i may make a complete guide for it, even for the most stupid people (i.e me) can do it :p

i know now that the positive section is the cable from the battery to the coil.
it says the negative end is the cable from the coil to the dizzy

so where the cable comes form the coil to the dizzy, do i plug it into there?
and do i plug it into the coil end?
god if i got an older micra, i would have had not as much problems :p haha

ahh ok, and what do i do, just connect it to a piece of wire?
ive heard people just wrapping it around the wire

.kiz

there are some electronic tacko,s that you wrap the signal wire around the h/t lead.
just tap into your minus l/t lead, anywere

Connect it to the green wire, I am 90% sure on this. The worst thast will happen is it'll fry your tacho but thats unlikely.
Just to be sure connect a voltmeter from the other side to see if there is voltage.

ok i finally fit it :D success
thanks for all the help

what i have done is connected it to the red/white wire on the end with 3 wires.
then connected earth, constant 12v and ignition 12v to the back of radio.
popped it to 4 cylinder and its working fine :)
i shall post pictures up and how-to, so there arent loads of threads like this one :p
