Idle Tensioner

Hi All, I found out what that nosie was in the engine bay other than the engine itself, it was the idle tensioner & the belts , I have now changed the belts but not the tensioner which is where the nosie still comes from the belts were Nissans own ( mileage 714240) . Any ideal where I can buy a new idle tensioner one with V ribbs on it from, I have checked the normal websites Ebay, carparts4less, eurocar parts, automaster.co.uk and others but they all have the idle tensioner without the V ribbs and if I were to use a smooth tensioner would it make any difference as its only a guide pulley? The idle tensioner just pushes on the back of the belt, please don't say you've put the belt on inside out with the grooves facing away from the pulleys

Why do you want the v ribs? Doesnt iT press against the flat side of the belt?
Hi maarten & LiamC, NO when I removed the orginal belts I noticed that the v ribbs on the belts were facing the idle tensioner, the clamp pully and water pump and showed the ware. So when I replaced the belts the V ribbs were facing into the pulleys. My Question was where should I get the tensioner pulley from as my one has worn out and squicks alot or could the nosie be another part of the belt section ie the water pump? I not as stupid as you think I am, I have done many repairs to other cars . yours Peter0003

Ah my bad. There are some setups with the idler pulley there. Which one do you have? Also some pulleys have replaceable bearings in them. I dont know if these also have that but its worth checking.

I think mine is like this one blow, mine has power-steering though, I'd have thought they share lots of components though, no idea if a Nissan dealer would be cheaper ?

Had the same issue not too long ago, it seems that non power steering have a v ribbed pulley which is adjustable and the bearings take quite a beating. As this tensions the belt for the w/pump I thought it best to change, lucky for me I found a newly fitted one in a breaker( doesn't help I know) but I think the one you are looking for is the herth+buss from autodoc below.
