Hi there, any ideas? we have cleaned the throttle body with the carburretor cleaner as suggested in another post, but the tank is showing quarter of a tank of fuel, which is a bit dodgy from time too time anyway lol because the gauge has a mind of its own...now when i go to accelerate, it is like the engine is dying, but then out of nowhere it picks itself up again. Def know there is petrol in there mind......

any advice gratefully appreciated

It could be the MAF if your getting a flat spot

thanks Katie, just looked through my haynes manual and cant find anything about the MAF, cud u tell me where it is pls hun?

It could be listed as the Air Flow Meter / Mass Air Flow Meter or words to that effect.

Im probably wrong like, i just know a dirty / faulty MAF gives a flat spot on acceleration

many thanks for the guide? is it a re solder job? or just heat them with the soldering iron?

i've never done it, but you should be able to re heat the solder joints with a soldering iron.

You could try changing the fuel filter - it is cheap and can't do any harm.

Or the fuel filter could be choked or drawing in air, had the same symptoms wen my fuel filter was mingin!

Never hurts to change the fuel filter for peace of mind but by the sounds of it, the throttle body could use the resoldering trick as well. Not a tough job, you just need patience when doing it. Done it on mine and it's worked a treat.
