Hi Guys,

I'm new to posting on this site although I have gleaned some useful tips from it in the past, so please be patient with me.

So for my first big project I'm attempting to change the head gasket on my 2001 K11 CG10DE Micra using the appropriate Haynes manual. Stripping down going well until I reached the double idler sprocket that the upper and lower timing chains go around. The Haynes says to undo the "idler sprocket bolt -ok done - then use a screwdriver to prise the idler shaft from the roll pin on the cylinder head" it goes on " the lower timing chain will remain engaged with the crankshaft sprocket and idler sprocket because the lower guides keep them in position"

I just can't fathom this out (I said you'd have to be patient!). The idler sprocket connects the upper and lower timing chains and appears to be one piece. How do I get the upper timing chain off the small sprocket without moving the lower timing chain from the large sprocket?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
