Halfords no longer stock Rear Brake Shoes for K10's

They haven't done for a long time. They trimmed the stock they carry instore a long time ago, back when I worked for Halfords. We put them all on sale for 50p a box and some bloke who owned a motorfactors in Brum came round and bought the lot.

What halfrauds should be able to do for you is order the part from PartCo or Andrew Pages or whoever their local parts supplier is for specialist parts. Failing that go direct to Andrew Page or PartCo who usually have a trade counter open to the public.

why go to halfords at all o_O a motor factor is soooo much cheaper for everything!!!

cost about £25 to £35 (depending on oil quality) from a motor factor, I wouldnt be suprised if its double that going to halfords...

thats just a lie.

i have run the parts dept at halfords for 5 years now, and i deal with Andrew page and partco and waterloo for that matter.
our prices are the SAME as trade outlets, we can have the part in an hour if we dont stock it and we have more of a range than any motorfactors.

if you apply for a trade card we will beat any price trade or otherwise.

please dont make remarks that are unfounded and untrue.

i am now working for andrew page however, and can get parts for myself cheaper. but thats staff rates, most things i would still shop at halfords for.

you go to the parts desk, tell them you have just started working for a garage or your at college doing motorvehicle stuff and theyll sign you up for one....

up2 80% off parts, 30% off tools, 15% off oils and coolant, 50% off car batteries etc etc

If you go into frauds, and a motor factors as a regular customer, like for like comparison - the motor factors will be cheaper.

It's nice to be able to go into Halfords and pick up alot of of parts for the K10, some parts are universal like Oil filters, Air filters etc but to be honest i usually only use them in an emergency. When my points died i thought Halfords would have some but they had run out. I was going to get charged extra for special delivery but i declined and got it delivered the next day by the local motor factors for free. A lot of people don't seem to realise that the micra K10 has lasted a lot longer than most other makes, 35% of all K10s built are still on the road and Halfords should realise this.

But in the case of the rear Brake shoes, i think it's in the best interests of the Driver/owner of the vehicle to do a lot more routine maintenance therefore being one step ahead having a spare set of Brake shoes/Pads in the Shed/Garage before they get to bare metal and not relying on Halfords...nice to have though.
But as i said above the figures of ownership speak for themselves, perhaps Halfords will change their minds?

right here we go, more lies.

Halfords will never charge for special delivery, ever. we dont even have the facility to do this. the delivery is done by the motorfactors themselves and as such is included in the prices of their good, (remember who i now work for again)

if the factors are cheaper tell us and we will lower our prices, theres no excuses. we will be cheaper!!!!!!! just ask. i mean it says on the card "lowest priced parts guarantee" thats what it is, cast iron guarantee!!!!

if you think your local factors have bigger buying power than a £2.9Bilion company then please shop there. but we can beat their prices. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK...

Not having a go at you Antony but people aren't making this stuff up. It's not lies! You shouldn't be so quick to defend such a huge corporation. If they generate so much money nationally, why should people feel they should go to frauds over there local motor factors, which i'm sure in this day and age, will be struggling more to survive financially. Bit like the local shop being taken over by large super market scenario.

I'd much rather go to my local motor factors, who always seems, spot on with the customer service and has the cheaper prices to start with!

If you want the parts, such as brake shoes there and then, you'd just go to the local motor factors to start with, rather than wait several days for somewhere like frauds to get them in stock.

again, not several days...

its all misconceptions of halfords.

we get our stock in an hour.
we have a much larger range than any motorfactors (any of them at all)
with the trade card we are cheaper. period.

and the reason people dont choose halfords over the factor is this misconception of the factors being cheaper, having more stock, being more polite (which again is untrue) just because you may have had a dealing with a spotty little scroat of a teenager doesnt mean we are all like that. most of us are over 23, i was a young one..lol

as for the amount of money we make, a motorfactors make 300%+ on most of its parts, halfords make a maximum of 60%.....whos making the most profit?
most of our turnover comes from bikes and Audio. again this doesnt effect parts at all..... if parts was a store on its own, we would be doing alot better than we do.

people still see halfords as a retail bike shop and not a trade car parts shop.......dont forget we have been doing this for 101 years now. how many of your motorfactors can boast that?

also as for range changes, as we are a retail store and as such dont have a warehouse, we have to limit the amount of stock on our shelves as whos gonna come in and buy a set of points for a 1960's mgb off the shelf? more likely to be an oil filter or brake pads for a vectra or mondeo. so thats what we stock.

again not having a go, but its dissapointing to see what people think of a company, and most of it is missinformed and a generalisation of a company with over 500stores and 30,000+ staff (they cant all be the same now can they?)

i was trying to get a fuel pump a while ago so i phoned up frauds and they said about 27 quid on trade, phoned up the local place and 18 quid? i didnt even what to ask what halfords would have tried to charge someone on non trade! They may have a lower price guarantee but id rather go to the place that trys to charge you less in the first place!

£27. im sorry but i dont believe that, retail theyre only £25.

from andrew page we get them for about £11 at cost (+ VAT) and to get our prices usualy multiply by 1.4 times.

but we get them for a lot less than anyone else.

£27.... thats pricey.
that may be the exeption. on trade an oil filter for the K11 micra is £4, brake disks are £19.99 a pair, pads are £9 for 4. fuel filter is £3, bulbs are 20p a pair etc etc.

look im not trying to defend anyone but halfords isnt the devil, i mean i dont even work for them anymore. but they do CHOP prices for trade. massively. i mean 70% off hard parts is no mean feat.

so here i am at work.

a fuel pump for a nissan micra 1.0 k10 on an 89 plate is £21.03 RETAIL
trade price is £18.11 and available in 30 mins.

i dont see where you got £27 from?

He said 'a while ago'. Frauds may have reduced there price since he got a quote.

It's not surprising they've got the nickname 'frauds' is it lol. I went in there requesting some of those double sided number plate sticky pads. Not an expensive item and i imagined hard to get hold of, but it took over two weeks for them to get them in stock. I can't believe anywhere has stock delivered on an hourly basis either!

As posted above somewhere, you'd expect a store like that to have competitive prices, and you shouldn't have to go in asking them to price match. They should be good enough the first time round. I'l still continue to buy from frauds though, it's a convenience thing, but you shouldn't really rant at people for choosing to buy elsewhere - your not personally losing out, your still getting paid, and your leaving frauds anyway! so what does it matter

believe it or not thats what they said! probably just trying to rip me off! they probably didnt realise i said trade as they're usually pretty useless at my local place.

I'm not a big fan of halfrauds or their prices especially as I worked there for umpteen years :p

The delivery within an hour is from a motorfactor, main stock deliveries are usually once/twice a week depending on how many bikes the store goes through. But if they need to order from a motorfactor they can usually get it within an hour. Although when I worked at the barnsley store it was a lot slower getting stuff in than when I worked for any of the Leeds branches.

Motor factor are superior to frauds, better service, more knowledgeable, generally better prices. That said, I occasionally will use halfrauds, especially for bulbs, fuses etc (although I'll pay through the nose for a kit  )

So all this talk of Halfords being better than Motorfactors, and they get there bits from Motorfactors too lol. I really don't see how anyone can say Frauds is better!

didnt say they where better, just cheaper. (on trade) thats what the trade card does.
it allows you to get the parts cheaper through halfords than anywhere else.

the delivery of number plate sticky pads are controlled by a company called Signam who supply all of our number plate parts. due to the nature of these items though, staff tend to use them in the store for sticking things together (theyre realy good...lol) and dont write them off. so there becomes a stock innacuracy. however. the delivery is done once a week for these items and we can go through hundreds in a week with customers buying them at 3 pack at a time.

its a supply and demand thing. too much demand, too little supply, this has changed this week actualy, as they now come through our mainstock delivery from head office and not through signam.

so thats changing.

halfords is changing for the better, unfortunately i wont be there to see it.
