Are u certain it was the gearbox that led to the oil jumping ship in the first place? Didnt have any huge plumes of black smoke coming out the exhaust did you?

Check your local Nissan wreckers. Someones bound to have something.

Another solution:
http://www.micra.com.au/information/factory-bolt-ons.php
Checkout the bolt-on gearboxes... ask for them at your wrecker aswell.

Toma - input shaft bearing seal failures are common with our gearboxes. Nothing you can do about it either.

I believe "datrats" were selling re-co K11 gearboxes at some stage? mabye contact them and see if they still do it. New gearbox for $500 or so and then send them back your gearbox to be rebuilt for someone else...

The oil that was leaking was due to the fact that one of the bolts that join the split in the gearbox together was not done up tight enough. Because of this i didnt realise that i was leaking oil from there as i park mostly on the grass. Over a period of time the oil ran dry and thats how i became in this mess that i am in now. Which is unfortunately.

Talk to Errol at Datrats.
He is starting to specialise in Micras. You will aslo be treated very well, pay fair prices and if he says it has been inspected/reconditioned you know it has.

I'm currently talking to Errol and he is investigating a box for me as we speak so looks good from here so far. It was hard to tell about the oil on the grass because I have been parking there for so long now that the grass is dead anyway. I haven't been having much luck with the micra of late and it seems to be spending more time off the road than on. however, i am holding strong with it so I'm still faithfull to the ol girl. In the meantime I might start doing some paint'n'repair work. Time for some flames!
Thanks again for evryones help.

Yeh the 95's seem to be hitting that age where things go bung.

Don;t worry... Hold your head high and you'll come out the other side even better than before you entered it. :)

Found a gearbox today. $550 it had sucked from my wallet. Not sure if this was cheap or not but everywhere else wanted above the $700 mark. I mean the box is only $1200 for a reco. Now I know thats a lot of money but for a box out of a wreck for the $700 up mark is a lot to me. Anyway should be going in on the weekend and that should do some good for the self esteem as I am currently driving around in mums excel! So you see why I want the micra back!
