I have had my Nissan Micra k11 L reg 1993 serviced last week and they say that my Fuel Solenoid needs replacing.

a) What is a Fuel Solenoid ?
b) Is it easy to replace ?

And

c) My car keeps stalling could this be whats up with the car ?

please help

a) it's a solenoid that pumps fuel
b) I don't believe it's too difficult
c) It could also be the throttle body

Note: I assume he is referring to Fuel Pump?

Fuel pump is easy once you rip the seats out.....I think!!!

edit: Haynes gives a 3 spanner rating - Suitable for competant DIY mechanic!

The fuel pump access is located under the back seats from inside the vehicle!

Haynes manual states:

Removal
1. Remove the fuel gauge sender unit
2. Reach into the tank, release the clips and withdraw the fuel pump and it's housing through the aperture
3 Disconnect the hoses from the fuel pump, then unclip the housing cover and remove the pump.
4 Wash the fuel pump, housing and strainer in clean fuel.

Refitting:

Refit in reverse order!

You have a fuel solenoid on diesels, it blocks the fuel off to stop the engine.
someones got there word wrong, the fuel system goes pump>piping>filter> fuel presure control valve>injectors!
might be the fuel presure control valve, this limits the presure of fuel sent to the injectors when idling to save fuel!
If it is that you might as well fit a power boost valve, this can maximise the fuel presure from the pump and can be set up by your self, it just needs to dynoed for max performance!

what exactly are the issues with the car?

poor idle?
Loss of power under hard acceleration?
Stalling when coming to a stop?

if more than 1 of those things, I'd look at the MAF in the throttle body, normally just a re-solder.
