fuel pump pressure

can anyone tell me why thay started using the fuel pump with the pressure release outlet on top of the pump after 88.
and does anybody no the fuel pump pressure between the 2...cheers

fuel pressure 0.20-0.27 bar

i dunno the difference in ages tho wouldnt thought the pressure would be different tho
