Exhaust smells too much of petrol?????

hiya,
got a k10 micra 89 1.0 and the exhaust seems too rich in petrol. all you can smell is petrol!!
is this right???

It shouldn't smell excessively of fuel once the engine has warmed up. It could be that the choke isn't disengaging, or possibly that a cylinder isn't firing. Either way, you would normally notice a lack of power.

Be sure that it's the exhaust that is smelling of the petrol and not elsewher on the car that is smelling. (dont sniff too many exhaust fumes though or you will go to sleep and never wake up!)

Remember the fuel tank is neer the back neer the exhaust and fuel pipes run the length of the car to the bulkhead under the bonnet. It may be that you have a fuel leak that only becommes apparent when you start up (when the fuel pump is running).

Just a thought.

If in doubt I would have the car checked by somone with both expertese and compassion.... don't go to a cow boy/girl they dont care about your safety.

just a quick one on this check that your fuel filler cap is on prperly no somone who spent alot tryiin to fix a problem like that and it wasjust the seal on the fuel cap
