Engine Sump Leaking

Hi all,

SWMBO's car (1.0 K11 2001) is dripping oil from the sump, I can see quite a bit of corrosion on it, so I guess the pan needs replacing. Do I need to remove the exhaust to change the sump ? I only ask as the exhaust bolts are really rusty and I don't fancy having to drill and tap new threads etc. You're advice would be greatly appreciated

If you release it from the centre mounts it 'should' give you the play you need to slide it off the oil pickup

If not start and warm the engine. Then take off the manifold. They're less likely to snap.
Be prepared with a gasket sealant for after.
Loctite copper silicone sealant works extremely well :)

Will do, I'm concerned the MOT is a week on Saturday and think it might be picked up. It's not dumping loads of oil but a little oil goes a long way, as we all know :)

Certainly does. Oil leak is only an advisory anyway :) it doesn't affect the safety of the vehicle so no reason to fail it :)
