Been doing a small trial fit today

Been alot going on the last few weeks, so time for a big update!

Finally got the wheels on..

The arches took a battering but they will suffice.

This was the end result

Very happy with it, just need to pick up some Mk3 Golf arches at somepoint just to finish and hopefully protect the arch slightly, needs to be undersealed and what not really.. considering just cutting them out.

CG13!

Finally managed to get my hands on a 1.3, this is how it looked when i got it back home

Will be using the exhaust mani and TB that is on my CG10 as this did not come with one, but i did get the dizzy and a spare set of driveshafts just incase
I will also be using my CG10 flywheel and gearbox, also gonna buy a new clutch while im there as its so much easier.




Plans are just to clean it up, full service, and new belts and gaskets (bar the head gasket) still learning

Under the cam cover

Probably not really the cleanest but isnt to bad i suppose, dread to think what my CG10 looks like compared.



Started cleaning the cam cover after i got some decent degreaser, (will probably still get it acid dipped in all honesty but ill see how it goes)

Next ive been getting to grips of taking things off the block for cleaning, Inlet manifold and etc

Inlet is preety much ready for paint soon.

One of the flywheel bolts was giving me a bit of grief for a while but got it off in the end

Theres still a fair wedge left on the clutch aswell if anyone is after one

Finally got around on making a start degreasing the block aswell, going for black on there and silver on the manifolds

And yes i have been masking the holes up

Pictures are preety but yea, il be doing more after work through out the week

Currently working on a new shifter also

Just deciding on weather to buy a new sump now or clean out the current one and just buy a new gasket..

Hopefully when pay day comes il be able to buy a clutch and fresh gaskets and some bolts to make a start of it going in

New sump isn't too expensive, but if yours is straight and rust free I'd just get new half moons and some instant gasket and reseal it

For the same of £50 odd I would, would make it easier to seal I'd of thought... But, if it only surface rust I'd just paint it and pretend it's new

I had 2 sumps that appeared to have surface rust, by the time I'd sanded the rust off the sumps were pinholed :/

For £100 you cant complain!

Needs a good clean inside and out and a few minor issues to sort such as a bit of welding, noisy clutch release bearing and the rear and front bulbs

Feels good to be home
