Just to let people know what I've got planned over the Christmas holidays.

  • I'm taking the bonnet off and giving it a new spray paint on the under side of the bonnet, If goes to plan it will look like the japanese sun which should look pretty sweet.
  • I'm also cutting up the front grill and opening the whole grill and sticking some red hella supertone horns in there and stick bombing the finished grill.

Will add pictures soon as I've done some work and have something to show.

Work I've done so far

Cheers mate.
Having trouble with the red paint at the min, keeps cracking up and can't understand why...
Best picture, but all the patches are the areas its cracking up, no matter how many layers I put down the same areas are just a killer!!

:( any ideas why this is happening?

Also MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE for tomorrow =]

paint cracking is usually caused by not prepping the pannel properly. There could be grease or some other compound already on the pannel causing your paint to react.

Best plan is to strip ot down back to metal and start again from primer to paint

In other projects or patches of paint when preping use some pannel wipe to clean the surface after keying up the surface

Hope this helps :)

Well I've cleaned it with everything you can think of, primed it up and its had a white coat before the red, every coat has been left for 24 hours to dry and still having this problem. Low temps might be the answer, but its funny how its in patches and not all over.

Yep cold temp is a bitch :(

I forgot to look at the can and find out what they are, but it was a nicer day today so got back to work and its looking ok.

Yeah my cars out side in the rain lol :p but I've got a cover for it so its water proof and doing most work in the garage or in the house, but its a squeeze

Also waiting on the sticker bombing sheet, which is taking its time and don't think I will get it before I go back to Uni, so I've sprayed the grill white for the mean time.

Its only had one coat so far.
Also hit this major pot hole on the way to my friends and thought I'd ripped the wheel out or popped the tyre or something.
Can't see any damage yet.

And the inside of the glove box, think it looks awesome.
Want to do the black parts on the outsides of the car doors but running out of time and not sure if the seals just pull off... Don't want to break anything.

I don't think I am at the moment. Because the steering wheel is a deep dish wheel I don't want it to close to me. At the moment the steering wheel is 3" deep plus the hub which is 1.5" I think and a quick release is about 2.5"/3" unless you get a short quick release but I heard you can't have a short hub and short quick release, they don't work together for some reason. Will see what its like once its on and let you know the details :)

Yup ive seen on my drivers door same **** another car, it was broken into before but thankfully didnt appear to have done too much damamge .

Yeah mine got broken into but it was fixable and no real damage, I heard they wanted my dash, well thats what I was told they was going for. Wasn't there at the time.
