Crap handbrake help.

Hola, I've got a Micra with a rear disc conversion and the handbrake is crap. I've got good discs and pads and the calipers are not seized. I have both cable handbrake lever and a large lever which is hydraulically operated. I've bled the system and had a new hydraulic handbrake lever made up which applies the maximum force for the leverage used. I've changed various master cylinders yet I still cannot get enough to get the small calipers to lock the wheels. The car is used for rallying not for just parking etc.
Has anyone had any luck with handbrakes on their cars or has anyone upgraded the rear calipers etc? I should say I've got gfi-r ones on the front too

i got the standard k11 calipers on the rear, was told to unscrew calipers out closer to pad

are you still using the factory rear brake bias adjuster kipsey?

My hydraulic handbrake when first installed wouldnt lock the rear drums... fitted a tilton bias valve & ditched the nissan one... locks the back drums up fine now, (though im converting to rear discs atm)

I have one of those bias valves and it still won't lock. I've tried playing with it but maybe a bit more playing. Bloody road rally rules changing again so no separate or vertical handbrakes next year. Boo

the k11 rear disc handbrake system isn't as grippy/biting as a drum brake i found, also drum shoes have a wedge type effect to boost grip due to their configuration? plus the rear pads are so tiny to overcome any rear traction.

so the stock bias valve has been removed n replaced by a bias dial?

maybe try a grippier lower temp rear pads?

Just using standard pads, won't lock hot or cold. Needs pressure I think. It's got Aeroquip through out and a bias valve

remember that little handbrake i done, it was dry rd

Nissan drum handbrakes are the best handbrakes FACT!

All the s14 drifters appear to swap they're disc handbrakes for s13 or r33 drums ;)

My stock handy with flyoff button has never let me down :)

What Tyres do you use though? I run soft Tarmac Tyres and occasionally slicks which grip really well. I'm not saying you run crap tyres but does it work on good quality rubber?
Thanks for all your responses guys!

Yeh that's quite a low grip budget tyre. Used to use them whilst practicing with my old corolla and escort. Brilliant fun and better than nankangs etc
