Clutch bit point

I have just purchased a 1998 1.0 GX to teach my daughter to drive and her first car.
The bit point of the clutch is much higher than other cars I test drove being right at the top of the pedal stroke. Can it be adjusted lower, say at 50% of the pedal travel rather than the current 80% or is this indicative of imminent cluch failure?
Thanks in antiscipation.

my car's developed the same problem over the last month weeks. The biting points gotten higher. Still functions fine, just higher

you can increase the slack on the cable no probs (10mm nut and thumbwheel under the battery) and also adjust the bumpstop iirc

Many thanks - Although there is no clutch slip(tested with 1 in 6 hill start before purchased), I was a bit worried that the clutch was perhaps nearing the end of its life!
I will try adjusting it tomorrow night.
