changing ECU ?

can anybady advise,
how hard in it to chenge the ecu ?
is it a case of unpluging one plugging in the other?
or is it a case of changing key barrell transponder if they are matched to the ecu,

hey again lol

in theory....they should just interchange providing model and ecu are same etc i do believe.

however its the keys that may be the problem here.

in ur other thread the ebay link you posted had the lot and keys

so u change the ecu and transponder....then u will need that key to start the car every time,

while ur standard keys to open doors

i may have just spoken absolute rubbish..but lets wait and see

cheers for that mate,
I have messaged the seller on ebay checking the part number of the ecu, then i can check if its the same as mine,
glad to hear its just a simple plug in on the ecu,
its changing the keybarell / nats transponder that i am concerned about,
door key not a problem i use the remote,
will be glad to get the Si back and on the road,
by the way Napster thanks for the advise and I just looked at your pics your car looks great

no problem mate :grinning: will be good to have the SI back lol

i would like someone to confirm its PLUG AND PLAY regarding ECU's!!!!!??

if i had got a unit i could have fitted it myself....but never mind.

i had to remove the plastic casings around the steering wheel....4screws underneath!

remove the top and bottom parts and slide the bottom and top around the transponder unit.

you should then see the whole barrel! the wire for it should be ther...just follow ur standard one back till it meets the connector.

not sure how to remove the whole barrel though...sorry.

thanks for comments about my micra....she isnt looking to bad!!!

cheers

here are some pics!!! just went and took them :wasntme:

hope they help

it's possible to just change the ecu, transponder around the ignition barrel and just the chip from the other key, leaving you with your own locks and keys. and yes, it should all be plug and play.
