Cd player installation, car wont start and alarm keeps going off

Title says it all really. Installed a new stereo, connected battery and alarm goes off, ignition won't kick over! Need some help!!!

aftermarket alarm ? and did you separately earth the stereo ?

Grounded the black stereo wire, car alarms stopped. No power to stereo and car wont start ?

the stereo earths through the ariel iirc and can cause blown fuses when an aftermarket one is fitted

Was threading the aeriel through the A pillar and it came undone so radios not connected, i grounded the black wire and the cd players working. At some point I'll sort the aeriel. Thanks for your help. Should it be ok now that I've grounded the cable ?
