Can't afford insurance so she is up for sale :(

Spent over 4000 grand getting it ready for the shows. Custom coilovers, wheels, bodywork, full interior. Only has 50000 miles on it. Full service history to. 4000 Ono. pictures will come soon. Really don't want to sell :(

That's such a shame. Putting her back to near standard sounds like your best option, even if it is a horrible thing to do. :l Good luck with sale, if you do put it up for sale.

It's 4500 :( standard is a 2500 but I've sold all me standard bits :/ loads of people have been telling me to keep it and I really don't wanna get rid tbh

Have you tried the specialist insurers that advertise in the back of all the car mag's?

Yeah that was the cheapest :( nah I haven't mate but I'm goin to take it off the road until I can afford the insurance. I'm still going to the shows gonna see if me dad can drive me down

Ouch! £4,500? ...that's what my car cost! (3 years ago)
I assume this is all Fully comp?... o_O
have you considered black box?
...or do none of the insurers offering that cover mods?

£3000 for my first year  with nothing!

Jord,
have you check on these insurances below?

  • adrin flux
  • direct line
  • swift cover (i think swift cover will be good for you hopefully. anyway try it out though)

Been trying all week and 4500 was still the cheapest so I've took it off the road until I build a few years driving up. Mean time I'm saving for a 1960's beetle, it's only 1500 insurance on a 1.2! :D

ah sweet mate! yeah im the same mate, 19 and no no claims. on my last policy i wasnt the main driver so i wasnt getting any :( who you insured with like?

Good news :) Mines £820 mods declared but third party, fire and theft and 2 named drivers, 19 with 0 no claims. How old are you and how many no claims?
 how did you do that? that is an amazing offer you know. my insurance will be finish in end of june so i dont want to spend alot (mine is fully comp & £3000 per year. its almost a year now.) i dont want to be bump again you know. i made my mistake cos i should go other insurance providers.

Whoo thats crazy . I just went on gocompare

are you serious? i tried on gocompare alot so two companies cancelled two times on my first year insurance. i went and end up with direct line. Hopefully, i will work out if i get good offers. :)

Lucky mofo! I'm paying £830, mods declared obviously, but with 2 years no claims at 20. Daylight robbery.

Glad your sorted some insurance Jord would hate to see someone lose their ride over red tape

I dont miss insurance in the UK.

in NZ its much better. Example - i just bought a 12SR for about 3200 quid. insurance (TPFT) costs me 176 quid.

Win.

What kind of car is this insurance for?! My first years insurance on a 1.2 corsa with 0 NCB was £1050 TPFT
2nd year 1.6 Almera £800 TPFT
3rd year 2.0 BMW 320d £850 TPFT
4th year 1.8 Vectra £600 Fully Comp

The prices quoted in this thread are insane!!

I'm a named driver on a 1.2 micra which costs around £20 a year, I got a quote for it on my own for less than £400 Fully Comp with 4 years NCB

So coilovers, custom wheels, custom interior? Is this still on a 1.2 micra though? Full service history doesn't affect the price of insurance.

Still seems very expensive to me!

How the hell did you get quoted for 4,500 0.0 my type r in my first year was 2,400 modded and I'd had an accident (wasnt even worth claiming for a paint scuff but the guy was trying to flog us down for a 3 grand payout :p

That's mad, before I'd been driving a year my own policy would have been £780 on our 1.2 sport+, possibly buying it from them soon, and got quoted £650 before I'd got a year and a half on my licence... Glad you found somewhere cheaper though :) we're with elephant at the moment, need to ring and see what they'd say about changing it to my name because at the moment admiral/that group is coming up cheapest.

Wow.. That is dirt cheap.. Where about you located.. Insuring a car in East London is so piss taking.. Insurance company just quote you whatever they feel like quoting.

Any suggestions for 'modd' car insurance company.

Its the risk. Most cars with mods will be in an accident or be stolen so risk goes up.

4000 grand on mods and £4,500 for insurance seems extremely cheap to me.

P.S. what you do for a living, spending £4 million pounds doing up a Micra?;)
