It won't load past the first boot up screen

When my PC didnt boot up it beeped rapidly, letting me know the fault was a stick of RAM



1 short DRAM refresh failure
2 short Parity circuit failure
3 short Base 64K RAM failure
4 short System timer failure
5 short Process failure
6 short Keyboard controller Gate A20 error
7 short Virtual mode exception error
8 short Display memory Read/Write test failure
9 short ROM BIOS checksum failure
10 short CMOS shutdown Read/Write error
11 short Cache Memory error
1 long, 3 short Conventional/Extended memory failure
1 long, 8 short Display/Retrace test failed

right not sure what's happened but now it's working, it just took ages.

currently it's running startup repair so fingers crossed all's good, any recommendations for external hard drives?

Seagate - Size is up to you with what you need but Seagate is a good brand

my mams laptop does that on the account selection screen :/ and has to restart it

Dont you have to hold a button and press f4 or something to activate the pad again?

mines hold fn + f7 and it switches the mouse pad off

It was fn+f5 but why would it turn itself off?

Cool! I wasnt sure if it had the Fn button so didnt want to confuse ya. This happened on mines before, i use it mainly for brightness and sometimes volume

It's likely it can be repaired/fixed cheap
Windows 8 is awful
