best way to remove engine???

this is what I would do if I was in your position cookie,

drain gearbox and engine

remove drive shafts then reattach hubs etc. finger tight, it can roll/steer again, remove bonnet

pull engine and box using at the very least a chain block, roll car away, every thing easier to work on now, things to consider are engine mounts, sump gaskets/sealant, rear main seal, gearbox/driveshaft seals, clutch/flywheel/bearing, all this is better inspected/rectified now, would be made harder if the replacement engine had been wiped clean of oil leaks 5mins b4 you pick it up tho.

I'm the king of having to do everything twice, short cuts usually f$%# up on me resulting in breakdown/rescue/cost/time/effort issues(usually all)

edit- I also don't recommend getting a strong pipe and a couple of big footballers to lift it out, quick but dangerous
