Air intake k12

Hi
ive just changed my air filter on my Nissan micra K12 and noticed on the back of the air intake pipe There is a hole, should there be anything attached to this, what’s it for?

It's ment to be that way.
Looks like it's to help with cold morning's. So the intake can bring in a little warmer air.
I have blocked this off before when it's warmer.
Usually my intake pipe gets loose and I would say that can be similar it brings the car upto operating temp slightly quicker.
