air filters & induction kits

heya,

I've heard that theese can be fitted to improve sounnd and performance. How do they work? What are the differences?

They use a finer material in the filtration elements, which consequently allows air to flow into the engine at a greater rate. I have the K&N panel filter in my 1.0i, and tbh there is no noticeable difference in power or sound. However, I believe that the cone-shaped induction kits such as the K&N 57i make a rather nice induction 'roar', although I'm not too sure about the power gains with those, although I don't think they would make much difference.

they are dyno'ed and tested.. reported to give you about 4bhp more... but you'd get more from it if you had a decent exhaust system on there too...

what the best layout for air intake?? i only have the standard air box on now, i did have a pipercross induction kit but it was sucking in the hot air as i never had a good enough feed
