12V Socket/Cigarette Lighter in Dash

Can anyone advise whether this is Bidirectional? I would like to connect a Solar 2W Trickle battery charger.

No, you need to connect it directly to the battery and you need one of these:

Split charge relay will disconnect the charger while the engine is running to prevent the starting current and alternator killing the trickle charger

Hi Thanks for your reply,though I wasn't intending having the trickle charger connected while the engine was running so wouldn't need a split charge relay,but would need crocodile clips,which my Sunsei 2v Trickle Charger doesn't have? michael

You couldn't do it through the lighter socket anyway as the circuit is only connected to the battery while the ignition is in the first and second switched positions, so would need to leave your keys in the ignition!

So Direct battery connection is the only way then.. so I will have to get some crocodile clips and a lead made up ! Thanks anyway Michael
