Can anyone give me some feedback on how their 1.6 engine performs.
I recently bought a c+c and the engine has a tendency to hiccup as you pull away, particularly if you only have it on a small throttle opening. Secondly, it pulls very well, even on a light throttle opening, up to about 2500 rpm, and then seems to only accelerate very sluggishly until it reaches 3500 rpm when it takes off like a scalded cat all the way up to the red line. I would have expected the spread of power to be far more linear, but this 2500 - 3500 flat spot means you have to drop a gear or two to get it going for a quick overtake. Is this the normal characteristic of this engine, or does anyone think it is abnormal ?
With regard to the hiccup on take-off, I have put three lots of injector cleaner additive through the engine, which has improved, but not cured the problem. Again, this might be a characteristic of this engine, so I would appreciate anyone's experience for comparison, before taking it to the dealer. Any suggestions ?
