1.6 brakes on and they don't work!!

Me and Hughes16v have fitted my 1.6 calipers but we can't see why they don't work!

When engine off, brake feels hard and when keep pumping you can hear alot of air through induction kit and the pedal does not lock up.

When engine on, pedal becomes very light and can be pressed all the way down and feels like there is no resistance.

We've beld them several times and the fluid flows fine and there are no leaks anywhere.

We are curious about the fact that when the engine is off the pedal doesn't lock when pumping and we can hear alot of air, this doesn't happen on my other micra of Dave's car.

The original brakes have been a little weak but I adjusted the pedal/servo bar thingy to give better braking.

ive just fitted the 1.6 brakes on mine. and it was like that until a couple of days ago until i ran them in. they feel awsome now. mite be different but i had a pedal that went further down than normal but didnt feel spongy. if its drivable then be careful for a couple of days until they are ran in then re assess them.

no its not drivable the brakes do not work at all tbh. the thing i worry about he the hissing noise of air that we can hear from the inlet manifold and induction kit. the noise doesnt happen on my car on on goldstars slx which he mentioned. its baffled me

nothing just changed the calipers but goldstar adjusted a servo/pedal bar a few weeks ago! his standard brakes where never as good as they could of been!

i dont think that they can be fitted on the wrong side because the calipers would be the wrong way round or upside down from my point of view but hey worth a try we will have to have a crack to tomorrow

that's deffo the problem. caliper wont fill with fluid because bleed nipple isn't at the top, trapping air into the system.

sorry Dave but :p
told you so!

If it works then if/when I meet those that helped will be enjoying a nice cold pint of beer!
Dave you get some for helping anyway!

carling or fosters are my favorite :p

I had the same problem on an escort turbo i had. Couldn't get a pedal cos it was full of air. Turns out the calipers were on the wrong side. Took me 2 days to figure that out. Glad you sorted it anyway. You say the brakes are 1.6. off what?

sunny brakes yeah. they work pretty good tho but when you anchor on the its a slow reaction if you understand, they dont do anything for like half a second

I think there on the wrong way to.... do I get a pint? stella please, only the best for me..

its right man, fridays ok, you can stay at mine, se when k11ss is coming down
