1.3lx Auto gearbox problem (CVT)

Hi
I have a problem with the clutch I am told by the garage that
the clutch is on the way out and it is very very expensive.

Is this true and can I change the gearbox and clutch to a manual one
I don't know if this is possible .
If not possible could I change the clutch myself

hi ya,

the auto boxes are always going wrong, i have two of them and they are both knackered. i think they must have a clutch but not like a normal one. it would be alot cheaper to go to a scrappy and get a new box but finding one that isn't knackered is hard.

you should be able to change one yourself if you know what you are doing but it isn't a fun job. and you can convert to manual, thats what i am planning but again that is kinda complicated, you need a different brake pedel and clutch pedel and wire the gearbox wires into the system. but it can be done, nissan went and made everything work with everything else. the main problem you will have is finding a 1.3 gearbox as i found it hard.

i suggest that you go to a scrappy and look for an auto 1.3 box. if you find one that works then get it. else try a convertion which isn't easy but you ask around here if you need help.
