Work problems

Ok here's the problem ladies and gentlemen i was ment to be doing overtime on sat, I got into an argument with the supervisor and I walked out (ok handled the situation badly) getting told off by manager today
he says " if I was running the shift I would of suspended you!"
am I right in saying he can't do that as overtime is voluntary or did I miss something?

I'll be writing a letter to my depot manager and giving a copy to the regional manager as well (higher up than depot manager) it's frustrating cause I've been there longer than the supervisor (slimy ****)

i dont keep a look out for better oppotunitees while i am at the present one
