Im Just Curious Before I Start The Nitty Gritty Engine Bits
Who Owns The Fastest K10?
With Proof From 1/4 Times Or Dyno's Would Be Nice...
Just Want To Know Whats The Best Way To Do The Engine, Suspension etc.fwn

theres a k10 in stockton with a yamaha r1 bike engine in it...dont know if hes on this site but he did have it on youtube with the ROYAL NAIL escort van...

thats cool but im hoping someone could tell me a few things about my MA12 engine simply because a bike engine would be pricey to put in for me! :p

i do believe curtis had the fastest k10 im sure he will be on and tell you whats what or look for daveeeeeeee i think he bought his of curtis

you need to break it down a bit more

Like Fastest
1.0
1.2
ST( I can say Eds)

etc

basically all the fast runners out there whether it be 1L or 1.2L
just wanted to know how they did their engines whether it be turbo or N/A with other mods etc.

to be honest theres not that many heavily tuned K10's out there, so gauging the best will be hard, as besides a k&n filter, and "go faster" ignition leads, theres not that many mods done.

Yeah but that's down to the availability of performance parts. It's a shame Frank was never let loose on one.

If you want ideas talk to the autograss boys, they're always doing up K10s

I had my standard MA10 with twin webers (36DCNFs) that was ok...

But then i got this:

MA12 engine
Ported and Polished head
3 angle valve seats
50 Thou head skim (165 psi to 205psi)
Lightened and balanced bottom end
Lightened and balanced flywheel
Twin 36 DCNF carbs
Custome inlet manifold
Piper racing cam
oil pump mod
4-2-1 exhaust manifold
Full stainless steel 2.5" exhaust system

~100bhp

0-60 = 7 seconds
Top speed = 125mph

Kept up with my almera gti, mazda 3 sport, 306 gti6 etc

Was pretty fast, and i think it would have ran into the 14s on the 1/4 mile...

awesomeness! thankyou! (Y)

Shame you never ran it! Ambitious time though, even the ST's do 14's and they have more power as standard.

I know, i really want to get another K10 and do the same to see what it would have done...

It was amazingly quick for a 1.2, shocked alot of people :)

get one! you could test stuff out on my car :p

If you really want the power i had you need to find out where those twin webers are on this club...who has them??? lol

The ring Dave walker, PM bobsp16 for his number

Dave can build + Supply the engine i had, but at a big cost

Considering its £500 to rebuild an ma12 with new gaskets etc, so with all parts supplied and built your looking at loads...

i know :( all i really want is a slightly tuned Smooth running engine would be happy if i could get that 60hp back it originally had would rather the luxury side of things and just Cruise (Y)

Nice spec but would never have run a 14 qtr.

The time i got on the equip i was using for the 0-60 and top speed said it would do a standing 1/4 in 15.5 seconds, but that was with a bumpy private road we found

At pod you would have been lucky to get low 16 (say 16.0-16.4). Took 160hp to break into the 14's in the ST.

was that my engine i sold to pietro

i had the same power to weight as an evo10 with that engine in and a very lite car 480kgs ,,,what the st weigh 700+ youle need 160hp just to get it to move...lol
i am building another class 2 micra now ready for next year and i would put it up against any k10 even an st

And I'd agree with you 100% that you would take it to the cleaners(Y) cant beat power to weight

Well unfortunately for you lot :p lolol, a certain thing called wind resistance.. power to weight is all very well, but as speed increases power to weight means less and wind resistance means more, even more important when really were talking small amounts of power i.e. 100bhp or so.

Car 'A' would destroy car 'B' in a straight line top speed race if they had the same air resistance but car A weighed twice as much car B but car A had twice as much power, and both had same power to weight ratio.

Also, I doubt you could get a K10 down to 400kg and still have it road legal. ST with all the trim taken out weighs 700kg with half a tank of fuel. The engine and gearbox probably weigh about 60 MAX kg more than a stock MA10 most likely less.

So say normal stripping out would get you to 600 without a driver if your lucky on a stock K10.
Where would you find the other 200Kg to remove from? no Glass/fibreglass panels etc? even then it would be a mission and pretty hard to see that as possible to be honest.

:)

it was 105bhp @ flywheel in class 2 spec if i was to do a straight line drag i would run bike carbs and get the power up to around 125/135bhp and it weighed 531kg on the scales with me sat in it and that is true you no...

I actually thought you had said 400, my mistake. 480 is believable for a grass track car, but not a road legal one.
