What's a Short Shifter and what's it for?

Hi. I'm a newbie when it comes to cars. I'm just wondering what a short shifter is and what can it do for my car?

It makes the throw of the gearshift lever alot closer, hence short shift.

However gear shifts also gets notchier in ratio of how much shorter your gearshifts are

Does a short shifter apply to A/T cars? So, with short shift, you mean the car's power increases?

shortshifter only applies to manual transmission cars.

Power does not increase. Just the throw inbetween each gearshift is shorter.

Yeh, it wont change anything in terms of power, but you will go quicker. If you get used to it! I certainly got much better take off times when I got one. Best cheap modification, IMHO.
