What oil should the St run on

Hi

i am going to have to change the oil in the ST when the head gasket is changed.

I have been recommended by a ver relaible source that i should use 0w 40

I have also been told from a source that i will not disclose that i could run 10w40 through it and it would be fine and there is no point wasteing money on 'good oil'

I would only use a 100% synthetic. Generally people will go for a thinner oil on turbo cars but having said that sometimes it is good to use something a little thicker on an older model car. I honestly don't think you could do any major damage with one instead of another, I'd just be sensible about it. Maybe go with 0w and keep a close eye on it, if you start noticing any leaks then maybe switch to a 10. If it runs well with a 0 then I'd stick to that.
